In one strange little way, the usually fragmented communities of the greater Birmingham metropolitan area stand united. Whether you live in Hoover or Homewood , in Vestavia Hills or Center Point, in Mountain Brook or down along U.S. 280 somewhere, chances are that you give your mailing address as “Birmingham.” It may not be much in the way of common cause.
